Woman (27) bites & stabs ex-hubby (29) for refusing to go to the grave with her
This was heard when the woman, Petronella Khabo (27) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Miss Evelyne Mashavakare, facing two charges of Domestic Violence and malicious damage to property. She was remanded out of custody to 25 January.
It is the State's case that on 23 December 2012, Khabo phoned her ex-husband, Felex Pote (29), asking him to accompany her to their late child's grave. It is said that Pote instructed his ex-wife to meet him at Bulawayo Central Police Station for counselling. The court heard that when the two former lovers met at the police station, Khabo lost her temper and allegedly picked up a water glass and smashed the windscreen of her ex-lover's car.
After his car was damaged, the complainant phoned Khabo's parents who begged him not to report the matter to police. It is further reported that the two love rivals proceeded to a garage situated along 5th Avenue and George Silundika Street where upon arrival, Khabo started biting Pote all over the body before stabbing him in the abdomen with an unknown sharp object.
Pote was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals for medication and the matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of Khabo. According to a medical report, Pote sustained life-threatening injuries and he risked being infected with tetanus.
