The police officer shook his head in amazement and said,
"You Igbos are so materialistic, you didn't

|Pres. Goodluck Jonathan visits Thisday's offices after a bomb attack-Photo: National Mirror|
In a statement issued by State House following yet another attack in Jalingo, Taraba State, in which three persons were killed, Mr. Jonathan said that “success in the war against terrorism will be more speedily achieved with greater support and assistance from affected communities.”
Condemning the assault on innocent citizens, he asked “patriotic Nigerians” to promptly report all suspicious persons to national security agencies.
Mr. Jonathan has said similar things each time there is Boko Haram attack. His busy spokesman issued a similar bulletin yesterday following Boko Haram attacks on the campus of Bayero University in Kano, in which about 25 persons at Sunday church services were killed. He also said similar things on Thursday when newspaper offices were attacked in Kaduna and Abuja, with several persons also killed.
President Jonathan has said he will defeat Boko Haram in June 2012.
On Thursday 26th April, 2012, the administrative block of Gombe State University was bombed by persons suspected to be members of the Islamic sect. And on Sunday, 29th April, two University Professors and 13 others were killed by bombers and gunmen suspected to be members of the terrorist Islamic sect, Boko Haram, when they attacked Christian worshippers at Bayero University, Kano.
National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Mr. Mohammed Dauda, condemned the attacks, saying that students, parents and teachers were no longer at ease with the threat to academic activities at the higher institutions. He chided the government for not doing enough to stop the violence in the North and also urged the government to end the bloodshed in the country at all costs.
“Without mincing words, NANS in the next few days shall not hesitate to order a total boycott on all Nigerian campuses until the issue of the security of lives and property is guaranteed on our campuses.”
“We have once again received the news of the callous attack which occurred this morning at the Bayero University, Kano.”
“It is saddening to imagine that a group under whatever pretence could unleash terror on campus of one of the nation’s foremost universities to maim innocent peaceful worshipers.”
“This act is not only condemnable; it has also increased our demand that the Federal Government should immediately take a concrete step in addressing the wave of terrorism in Nigeria.”
Last Thursday, similar bomb attacks by the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, on ThisDay Newspaper offices in Kaduna and Kano left six people dead and several others injured. After claiming responsibility for the attacks, the sect promised to target more media houses in their deadly attacks.
While the country is still grappling with the news that media houses may no longer be safe, the recent attacks on higher institutions has further put a greater percentage of citizens of the country in fear. The target in Bayero University was a Christian fellowship at St. Stephens Catholic Church, but was nonetheless in a University environment.
The remark by the NANS National President that students no longer feel safe with the attacks on higher institutions is therefore justified. How can they feel safe when two Universities were attacked within the space of three days leaving several students and two University Professors dead?
So please share, what do you think can be done to improve security of students on campuses? What do you think of the recent attacks on higher institutions and the fact that students no longer feel safe?

Nemuel Yoila, spokesperson for the Adamawa Police command, confirmed the bomb alarm was a hoax, saying no explosive was found in the car.
He however defended police action on the car, which has aggravated fear within the city.
"This is measures the police take to protect lives and property," he said."It is a normal police routine that any vehicle we suspect to contain any incriminating material or any vehicle we discover abandoned we cordon off the area and search."
Meanwhile, the police said the owner of the red metallic Honda with plate number AJ 23 JMT is yet to be identified. The car has been towed to the police headquarters and would remain in police custody until the police is satisfied it was not used for shady purposes.
Although normalcy is gradually returning to the city after its scared residents ran indoors for safety, an atmosphere of fear still lingers in Yola and residents say they are still too scared to venture outside.

The explosion which occurred about 9 a.m. appeared to have been targeted at the convoy of the state's Commissioner of Police. Ibiang Mbasike, the spokesperson for the Police in Taraba has confirmed the attacks.
Three police officers are reported to have died in the explosion, which happened barely 24 hours after another bomb blast in Bayero University Kano.
Many have been seriously injured as the attacks come during the early morning rush hour.
It is unclear if the Commissioner of Police, Usman Gwary, was killed in the blasts, but the suicide bomber, a dispatch rider and at least eight others have been confirmed dead.
Meanwhile another bomb was this morning detected and successfully defused in Yola, the capital of neighbouring Adamawa state while reports reaching us indicate that there may have been at least two other bomb blasts, one in Gombe, the capital of Gombe state, the other in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Question: What do you think can divide the two of you?
Marriage can divide the two of us. But we have prayed to marry twin brothers and that our marriages should take place on the same day. But we say this because we are just humans. God’s will definitely grant us all of our wishes.
Question: Tell us a little about the movies you have done together?
We have done Crazy Twins, Jealous Friends, Desperate Twins, Lagos Girls, Broken Ambition, Revenge of the gods and many others.
Question: We had that your childhood was not rosy, how did you cope?
That online gist wasn’t true! Our childhood was rosy, our dad was very wealthy. He was a philantropist. Although he was married to three wives, the three wives cooked inside one pot. We lived like princes and princesses. My father was indeed wealthy. The problem we had after our dad’s death was that our uncles took everything from us and we started life all over again.
Question: What happened after your father’s death?
Life became very difficult when dad died. We went into petty trading; we sold pure water, bread and ‘akara’. We hawked on the streets to survive.
Question: Didn’t you get harrassed by men while hawking on the streets?
Men being who they are, some claimed they would help us. But we discovered that they wanted to mess us up and we immediately placed them where they belonged.
Question: Tell us about your love life
I was once in a relationship but Chidinma didn’t approve of it and she gave me reasons. I studied the guy in question and noticed she was right. I also do that to her sometimes. We are not jealous of each other. We only complement each other.
Question: Have you girls ever switched lovers before?
No! We haven’t . But we have experienced something like that while we were growing up. At that time, the guy asked Chidinma out but she wasn’t interested in him, we wanted to play games with him, by going for his money. So, l was always at the guy’s house pretending to be Chidinma while extorting money from him. This went on until l was nearly raped by the guy in question. But we had to call off the game after that incident.
From then on, we have lived with the principle of not eating what we are not interested in from the beginning.
Question: What kind of reactions do you get from your fans whenever they meet you outside?
Our fans, especially the children do not want to believe that the characters we play in movies are not real. So they see us and run away thinking we are real killers. It became worse when we acted in the movie titled Jealous Friend.
In that movie, l played a character where my twin sister was killed and l took revenge on the killers. In fact just recently, I met a Police Commissioner who also called me a killer because of the role I played in a movie! culled from vanguard news.
If the Twin can survive their trouble times, you too can make it.
There are big boys and there are BIG boys
Explosions and gunfire rocked Bayero University in the northern city of Kano, with witnesses reporting that two church services were targeted as they were being held on campus.
One of the services was being held outdoors, while the second was inside a building, but with an overflow audience outside, witnesses said.
Officials were unable to confirm casualty figures, but an AFP correspondent counted six bullet-riddled bodies near one of the two sites.
At least another dozen bodies could be seen on a roadside by the university, but the exact number was unclear.
Musical instruments and half-eaten meals could be seen at the site of one of the services.
An army spokesman confirmed the attack but could not provide a casualty toll. Lieutenant Iweha Ikedichi told AFP that it appeared the attackers used bombs and gunfire in the assault.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived in a car and two motorcycles, opening fire and throwing homemade bombs, causing a stampede. They said worshippers were gunned down as they sought to flee.
“They first attacked the open-air service outside the faculty of medicine,” one witness said. “They threw in explosives and fired shots, causing a stampede among worshippers. They now pursued them, shooting them with guns. … They also attacked another service at the sporting complex.”
A witness who said he was at the sporting complex at the time of the attack reported hearing gunshots outside while they were praying.
“Then there was pandemonium,” he said, adding that he later saw two men outside shooting indiscriminately.
A crowd of people later gathered at a Kano hospital waiting to hear news about friends or family.

Malam Zaharadeen, University PRO said that, "Prof Ayodele of the Chemistry Department and Prof Andrew Leo of the Library Department, were among worshippers that were killed at Theatre Two near Sport Complex, old Campus of the institution".

If Sekinat Emiola had known that an extra-marital affair she was having with Asimiyu Ayantayo who lives at Oke Aremo Ibadan could lead to her death, she would have exercised some restraint. She left her four children with a message that after she finished her business at Eleyele, she would have a stop- over in the residence of Asimiyu before she came back home.
Unknown to her, she was saying the last farewell to her children. She never knew that all the dreams she had at the beginning of the year would crash like a pack of cards.
At Eleyele state police headquarters, all her former friends when she was alive could not stand by her. It was not that they hated her but because of the stench that was oozing out of her severed head and two hands. No thanks to her ‘lover’ who thought it was not necessary she lived.
All sympathisers who thronged the police headquarters had to cover their nostrils so that they would not inhale the odour that had taken over the entire spacious premises. A policeman nearly betrayed his emotion when he saw the gory picture of the severed head of late Sekinat.
One of the children of the slain woman, Kausarat Sekinatu who had the guts to see the head of her once-loving mum was stunned with the horror before her. She never imagined that another mortal could display such level of wickedness. Unfortunately, all these could not revive her mother whose remains were packed into a bag.
The two suspects including a vulcanizer looked unperturbed. One of them who was said to be the prime suspect, perhaps, underestimated the evil he was alleged to have committed as he was covering his nose and spitting intermittently as a result of the odour.
When asked how he committed the heinous act, the suspect confessed that Sekinat was his concubine and that they have been having a love affair for quite some time but he denied killing her.
He said, on that fateful day, Sekinat came to visit him at Oke Aremo and they had sexual intercourse. But, after the intercourse, the woman died.
I knew that she had been laced with a killer charm popularly called Magun in Yorubaland and that any man who had sex with her would die. I contacted the magun on her during love-making. She wanted to summersault but I prevented her. Then, she started foaming after the act and fell from the chair and died. I then decided to cut off her head and her two hands so that nobody would recognize her. I then sent this man to buy a nylon bag for me so that I could put the body there.
“At night, this man, Isiaka Akanbi helped me to put the sack on my head and we went and buried it at the cemetery. But the head and the two hands, I buried at the backyard of my house”.
The second suspect, Akanbi said, “He just sent for me and gave me N400 to buy a sack for him. He is a big brother in the neighbourhood. I went and returned with both the sack and N70 balance. I didn’t know what he wanted to do with the sack.
The following morning, he asked me to enter into a covenant. I asked him why we needed to go into a covenant and he said he wanted to show me the mystery of the world. I was surprised. He then asked me to drink the concoction he brought and I declined. Then, he asked me to taste it with the tip of my tongue which I did.
He asked me to follow him to his house and I did. After a brief conversation, he asked me to come and see something. When I saw it, I screamed! Then he said: “You are seeing the mystery of the world. Make sure you tell nobody, otherwise, you will die. I said that police must hear this and he said I would die. Then, he took me to the graveyard, dug a shallow grave and buried the parts. I knew the woman very well. I knew them as lovers.”
How the bubble burst.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that a boy living in the same house with the suspect heard the cry of that woman. In curiosity, he peeped through the keyhole of the door and saw the man using a cutlass to severe the head of the woman.
The boy went unnoticed. After, he was discussing with his mates that the suspect was heartless as he saw him cutting the head of the woman. Incidentally, a security man was standing close by and arrested the boy that he should lead him to where he saw the suspect. He was immediately arrested.
The daughter of the deceased, Kausara spoke with Saturday Vanguard that she did not know the whereabouts of her mother. But, it was her brother that called her only to discover that their mum had been killed.
The brother of the deceased, Mutiu Emiola, a mechanic at Lagos called on the security agents to ensure that the life of the suspect was not spared.
He said, “On that day, my sister told one of her children that she was going to the market at Eleyele because she sells ewedu(vegetable) and that on her way she would go to the house of Asimiyu. She did not come back home. And on that Thursday, Asimiyu told one of his children that he wanted to travel to Ijebu but did not disclose what he wanted to do there. We looked for my sister for two days not knowing she had been killed”.
The police commissioner in the state, Mr. Tambari Mohammed, insisted that Ayantayo killed the deceased, but the suspect claimed that he beheaded her after she fell down from a chair and died.
But, to prove that he was hiding some facts, he gave another reason saying he killed her to save his own life because somebody has to die once magun is at work.
Whatever is done to the suspects for the murderous act, the bottom line is that Sekinat is dead and can never come back to life again. What a wicked world.

A man walking bye and took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them in the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.
Soon the hat begin to fill up, as more people were giving money to the blind boy.
That afternoon, the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were, the boy recognised his footsteps and asked,"were you the person who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?
The man said "I only wrote the truth in a different way.
I wrote "today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it".
Both sign told people that the boy was blind, but the first sign simply said the boy was blind while the second sign reminded reminded people how fortunate they were to have their sight.
We have loads to thank God, today!
The teenager helped to set up the attack on the social networking site Facebook and then bought a £3.99 knife set from Argos, which was used to stab Sofyen at least nine times. Osoteku was then seen kicking the victim as he lay helpless on he ground with stab wounds to his heart and right lung. The Old Bailey heard Osteku claimed she just ‘nudged’ him with her foot ‘to see if he was okay’.
But Osoteku, now aged 20, was convicted of manslaughter after giving evidence for 21 days – the longest testimony at the Old Bailey in recent years – in a four month trial.
She was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm but the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the charge of murder. Sentencing her to 12 years in a young offenders’ institution, Judge Christopher Moss QC told her: ‘You played a pivotal role in the events of and leading up to that day and must take a substantial share of the responsibility for that.’ Osoteku is the 13th teenager to be sentenced for her part in the killing. Her jail term brings the total sentences handed down to 12 years.
The Okada man has chosen to die than parting with the N50 or his motorcycle to the officers.
How long will ordinary Nigerians continue these sufferings in the hands of those charged with the responsibility of protecting them?
The source added that the men numbering about eight and well armed parked their vehicles in the institution’s premises.
Thereafter they walked straight to the senate building and began shooting. According to the eye witness, the attackers shot indiscriminately on the senate building for over 10 minutes to scare people away before they threw bomb into the building. The explosion brought down the major part of the senate building.
It was gathered that after bombing the senate building, the armed men shot indiscriminately at Gombe town while fleeing the area, to scare security operatives. It was gathered that there was no loss of lives. But some students sustained minor injuries, while trying to escape from the scene of the bombing.
The attack occurred hours after ThisDay offices were bombed in Abuja and Kaduna yesterday. At least eight persons died in the attacks.

"I think I’ve had my fair share. To my fans and loved ones, I know they’ll always want to see me on screen, but as they say, it’s best to leave when the ovation is loudest. I want to leave a very strong legacy.
I believe I have left a very strong imprint in that line. There’s no possible way you can mention ‘Nollywood’ without mentioning Ramsey Nouah".
"Well, I’ll be going behind the scenes. I’ll still be acting a bit here and there, but it will phase out for directing eventually. For a while now, I’ve not really been on the screen, and that’s because I don’t want to act just because I want to be on TV.
I only want to be associated with the kind of movies that are poised to take the industry to another level, which is were we are headed now. Plus, I want to focus on working behind the scenes."
Best of luck brother

Chen Dejun, 71, lives by himself in shabby thatched cottage on a hill in Shuijiang township, Nanchuan district of southwest China’s Chongqing municipality. The short and bony man said he drinks 3 to 3.5 kilograms of gasoline every month, which he buys from a station at the foot of the hill.
Chen is known locally as a stone-cutter and master of weaving bamboo with a good business sense. But he’s also known for his undying love of drinking gasoline.
He developed the habit back in 1969 when he suddenly began coughing and felt pain in his chest. Seeing no progress after trying some medicine, he took up the folk remedy of drinking kerosene, Chongqing Evening News reported.
It turned out to be helpful for him after the first sip, and he since became addicted to kerosene. Then he moved on to gasoline.
Chen said it is hard to calculate exactly how much gasoline he has swallowed throughout his life, but the newspaper reported Chen has consumed an estimated 1.5 tons over the past 42 years.
Chen’s wife Yuan Huibi and their three sons tried many times to stop Chen’s addiction to gasoline, but those efforts only made the family relations tense. Eight years ago Chen moved to the cottage to live alone.
Sources from Honglou Hospital in Chongqing said Chen‘s health is fine despite having symptoms of emphysema. Chen refused to receive free check ups from the hospital. Feng Fu, an associate professor with the Second Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing Medical University, said Chen may have developed some resistance to gasoline. Otherwise, Feng said, it would be impossible for Chen to live. Feng also said gasoline may only work as anaesthetic for Chen but can’t cure his pain.
"It’s the ambience fairy-tale like. It is reminiscent of culture, of peace and love; something away from the chaos we get used, something fresh, new and different".she said.
Stephanie said she is happy at the moment "I’m happy. It’s a beautiful feeling to be in love and be with the one person you wish to spend the rest of your life with".
She also disclosed how her career has influnced her taste in a man "Lol! I guess you just want the best out of life when you are open to experiencing life in all its beauty. I want a man that is not threatened in the least; one who has his own pursuit, and there’s a connect between what we do. Respect is key".
Stephanie concluded by telling what women really want in marriage"Love, peace, security. A man to share your dreams with. One who truly respects you and sees beyond just your beauty but your true essence. A real man with real values".

This argument may have risen when it was rumoured that Mikel allegedly snubbed 2Face in a London club about two years ago.
When 2Face then did the 'Only Me' track, some said the song came as a result of that incident.
Mikel plays for a very popular English club while 2Face is a BET winner, MTV Base winner and also had his song in Hollywood's Phat Girlz.
In your view, who do you is more popular between 2Face and Mikel Obi?
