10 killed in Jos, Damaturu Attacks.

No fewer than 10 persons were killed in fresh violence in Jos, Plateau State and Damaturu, Yobe State on Tuesday night.

The development came after the Tuesday night’s bomb explosion in Jos left one dead and many others injured at a football viewing centre during the Barcelona FC versus Chelsea FC UEFA Champions League semifinal match in Spain on Tuesday.

Five persons were gunned down in the midnight attack in Gwarim, Riyom Local Government Area, Jos by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

Two teenagers were also stabbed in the attack and are currently receiving treatment at Vom Christian Hospital.

A four-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl were said to be among the five killed in the attack.

The Riyom Constituency representative in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Daniel Dem, deplored the constant attack on the area by Fulani herdsmen. He told our correspondent that the people of the area had been pushed to the wall.

Reacting to the explosion at Tudun Wada, the Special Task Force spokesman, Capt. Mdahlelya Markus, said one person died in the explosion at the viewing centre.

Plateau Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Ayeni, confirmed that five persons were killed and many others injured in the Riyom attack.

Ayeni told the News Agency of Nigeria, “There was an attack in Riyom that left five people dead. It was a night attack and we are investigating. It is very unfortunate and we are doing something about that.

“Riyom is our albatross; it is the major albatross we have now.”

Meanwhile, gunmen killed five people, including a police officer and a politician, at a bar in Damaturu, AFP reported on Wednesday.

Three gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram stormed the bar late Tuesday and shot dead their victims as they sat around a table, a witness told the AFP.

“The attackers shot dead five people at a table and drove off,” said the witness. He said a police officer, a politician and a senior state government official were among the dead.
