UNBELIEVABLE:Raped and pregnant, test says lady is still a Virgin

Miss Chinelo
We are indeed in the last days,so many unbelievable things happening.Imagine a teenage lady whose virginity was said to be intact after being tested positive of pregnancy.According to Vanguard, Chinelo, a fair-complexioned young lady, darting nervously between the floor and her hands narrated  how her second cousin, Onyeka, put her in the family way. She had gone to her mother’s cousin’s house in Ihiala, Anambra state for her UME exams and had slept on the same bed with her second cousin, Onyeka.

According to her, she woke up late that fateful morning and found herself wet with semen. She asked Onyeka what it meant but he was said to have waved it off as nothing important. Chinelo, naive, accepted his excuse and moved on.

“I woke very late, very dizzy even his mother noticed and asked me whether I was feeling alright that morning. I told her I was okay but when I went to the bathroom, I discovered I was wet but did not feel any pain. I asked him but he smiled and waved it off. I did not disclose to anybody. I just cleaned up.

“I finished my mensuration five days before then. I also wrote my NECO there but left after a week I finished my exams. I went back to Onitsha, and on the 27th of July, I came to Lagos to my sister’s house. There I missed my period. I told her and she advised that we should wait for some days, saying it might be a shift,” Chinelo said.

Chinelo began to notice symptoms of pregnancy after a month. “A month later, I felt sick. My sister and I thought it was malaria. But what later convinced my sister was when I started vomitting. Our neighbour advised we should go to the hospital. My sister obliged and we went to General Hospital, Aguda. They even gave me money for the test.

“It was on Sunday, so the lab personnel did not come. We returned home and went back the following day. A test was conducted and we waited for about 30 minutes. When the result came out, they wrote ‘malaria not seen and pregnancy positive’.

“While waiting, my sister had also taken her sick daughter to see a doctor. I approached a woman sitting close to me to explain the result to me and she looked at me and asked whose result was it, saying it indicates pregnancy. When my sister came, I gave it to her and she asked how come I became pregnant.

“I told her I didn’t know that I didn’t have a boyfriend. She took me to their head nurse who also is a counsellor. She tried to convince me but I maintained my position knowing it was the truth. They decided to take a virginity test on me with the aid of a machine. The result came out and it was confirmed that I am still virgin,” she narrated.

Then the pressure came. The medical team and her sister probed further and Chinelo broke the ice saying: “I remembered the incident in my aunty’s house and I asked whether if someone was wet without making love could result into pregnancy? They asked me who was with me and I told them how I saw myself wet that morning when I woke up. I further told them how I drank the juice and slept off. I did not know what happened again.

The medical team and her sister concluded that pregnancy could occur without a penetrative intercourse since her virginity was intact. But Chinelo maintained she had no idea of how it happened as she suspected she must have been drugged with the juice she was served after dinner.

In a raspy voice pausing briefly and looking down again, she continued, “They asked me to call him (my cousin) and tell him the situation to know his reaction. I did and I threathend I was going to tell everybody what he did if he did not tell me the truth. He pleaded that he would call me back.

He immediately sent a text massage to me, recommending some drugs to terminate the pregancy, asking me to go get it and take it immediately. I called him back asking him if he did not know anything about why he sent such message to me? I later got to know that everybody in the family took him on and he confessed to have done it.

Since then, he stopped picking my calls until last two weeks when I called him accusing him of causing my problem.”

She stated that it was not the first time she would sleep on the same bed with Onyeka but insisted she did not know how he did it.

Chinelo has already gained admission to study Mass communication at Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State but she would have to suspend her quest for further studies pending the delivery of the baby sometime in March 2012, all things being equal.

She however explained that the incident was too painful to contemplate but she had forgiven him, and would relate with him well anytime they meet again. Her words: “Forgiveness is of the Lord. I have already forgiven him. Recently, some people were of the view that I should call him with another number and reign curses on him but I said no.

“So also, when some of my brothers decided to involve the police, my mother objected, saying they should allow the sleeping dog to lie. Even if I see him anywhere I will relate with him well, I have forgiven him,” she said as her words fall over each other in a bid to assemble.

The overwhelmed lady is currently taking refuge at the Tamar Rescue Foundation, Lagos, a non-governmental organisation that sensitizes young girls on the menace of sexual abuse and rape and offers advice to victims and mentors them through lectures, seminars and empowerment programs.

What is your take on this issue..???

"Sapele explosion was not bomb" – Residents

According to Vanguard,Investigation conducted in the aftermath of the explosion that rocked an Islamic school in Sapele, Delta State, is not a bomb.

Reliable sources revealed that the explosion was from a locally made device thrown by some disgrunted element in the society, at the Central mosque located along a road by Hausa Road junction with heavy Muslim population. According to eye-witness accounts, the device seemed like big knock-out used in festive period like this – Xmas and New Year celebrations.

“If it was a bomb, it would have shattered some buildings, and shake houses in the vicinity, but even fluorescent bulbs were still intact during the blast”, one of the eye-witness said.

The eye-witness added that if it was a bomb, it would have affected some buildings. “People were not running all about for safety even though knock-out blast could cause injury and panic”.

A resident of Sapele who wants anonymity said the explosion could be a revenge by the Christian community in response to the spate of actual bombings in some parts of the north which killed several people, including that on Christmas day in a church in Niger State.

Another resident who spoke with Vanguard said the device resembled “Ogbinigwe”, used during the Biafra war.

A source claimed that the explosion could be traced to the rivalry in the Sapele Muslim community between the Nada group – a core, separate entity who does not want to be associated or worship with the Yoruba people.

“The incident is more political than religious, looking at the rivalry in the quest for leadership of the Muslim community. The spiritual leadership of the community in the past had followed a kind of quota system with the Yoruba and Hausa observing a kind of turn-by-turn arrangement which has recently collapsed.”

By this explanation, the belief in some quarters that the Sapele explosion was a revenge against what Boko Haram was doing against Christians in the north may not be corrected, that Moslems also are victims of the Boko Haram attack the northerner states. Also that Moslems and Christians in Sapele had lived peacefully together for several decades in friendship as many of the Muslims were born and bred in the town.

Our source also indicated that an experienced military officer (retired) who inspected the particles of the device said it was locally made and those who made the explosion are still living in Sapele.

“The question of insecurity has become a national problem. If there is no security in Sapele, there cannot be security in Abuja, Calabar, Lagos, Ibadan, Kafunchan or any place for that matter”.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened among the victims. Some of them are in Sapele General Hospital and other hospitals in the state. Although, at the time of this report, no arrest has been made and nobody has claimed responsibility.

The chief imam of Sapele Central Mosque, Alhaji Muhammed Usman was reported to have said the explosion was done “to exterminate the Muslim pupil” and called on the government to tighten up security around Muslim community in Sapele.

As at the time of the incident, it was estimated that about 50 children within the ages of 7 and 15 were in the Koranic class, but only six were seriously injured.

The police authorities have however assured of security and that efforts are being intensified to fish out the perpetrators while the residents were urged to remain calm.

Revenge???...Another Bomb blast hit Mosque in Maiduguri,Kills four

An explosion and gunfire rocked an area near a mosque and market in northeastern Nigeria on Friday, killing four people, residents said, but the military denied there was a blast and said two people had been shot dead by armed robbers.

The violence erupted after a series of Christmas Day attacks blamed on Islamist sect Boko Haram that killed at least 49 people, most of them outside a Catholic church near the capital Abuja, and triggered fears of reprisals by Christians.

Details of Friday’s incident remained unclear, with residents initially reporting a loud explosion near a mosque in Maiduguri, a northeastern city that has borne the brunt of violence blamed on the Islamists.

Two residents said they later saw four dead bodies.

A spokesman for a military task force at first confirmed an explosion near the city’s main market, but later strongly denied there had been a blast, saying armed robbers had shot three people and that soldiers were in pursuit.

Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Mohammed said several robbers had stormed a market in Maiduguri after Muslim prayers.

“In the course of trying to rob the traders, they gunned down three people,” he said, adding that two people had been killed and the third was critically ill in hospital.

He said the robbers may also be members of Boko Haram, which has been accused of carrying out armed robberies in the past to finance its activities.

A relief agency official in the city said on condition of anonymity that “many residents in Maiduguri said that they heard the blast that took place in Guddum area, behind the emir’s palace.

“But the (military task force) denied there was a blast,” the official said.

“A robbery took place in the central business district of Maiduguri and there were gunshots fired at the scene. Where the robbery took place is about a kilometre away from the scene of the blast.”

Nigeria’s security agencies have come under intense pressure to stop attacks by Boko Haram amid spiralling violence blamed on the group.

President Goodluck Jonathan met with his security chiefs for the second time in as many days in Abuja on Friday following suggestions that he may reshuffle his team.

Boko Haram has carried out scores of attacks in Nigeria, most of them in the northeast, and its targets have included Muslim leaders.

Thousands have fled Maiduguri fearing further attacks by Boko Haram and heavy-handed military raids, with soldiers accused of killing civilians and burning their homes after bomb blasts.

Christian leaders have expressed mounting frustration over the Nigerian authorities’ inability to stop attacks that have killed hundreds of people this year.

They have said they will be forced to defend themselves if the authorities do not address the problem.

Amid the mounting concerns over reprisals, a bomb was thrown into an Arabic school on Tuesday in Delta state in southern Nigeria, wounding six children and an adult.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, is roughly divided between a mainly Muslim north and predominantly Christian south.

Violence had been raging even in the days before the Christmas Day bombings, especially in the northeastern cities of Damaturu, Potiskum and Maiduguri.

Another attack hit the northeast on Wednesday night, when gunmen opened fire and threw explosives at a hotel and open-air bar in the city of Gombe, wounding 15 people, the hotel manager said.

The motive for that attack was not clear, although Boko Haram has often targeted bars.

In Damaturu last week, suspected members of Boko Haram carried out attacks followed by a military crackdown that led to clashes. A rights group and police source said up to 100 people were feared dead in the violence.

An emergency official has said an estimated 90,000 people have been displaced in Damaturu.

My Wife Wants To Kill Me With Sex- Man Tells Judge

So too much sex can cause problems in Marriage...???According to P.M.News,A 39-year-old cobbler, Daniel Olufumilayo, has accused his wife of plotting to kill him with sex in order to inherit his property.

He said his wife usually demanded as many as eight rounds of sex before the break of dawn.

The divorce-seeking father of two stated this in a divorce suit he filed against his wife at an Agege Customary Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

He told the court that his wife is so crazy about sex to the extent that she always demanded for seven or eight rounds of it every night.

He added that in his entire life, he has never met a woman like his wife when it comes to hunger for sex.

“My wife can never be satisfied sexually. Her plan was to kill me with her excessive demand for sex so that she can inherit my property,” he said.

The cobbler claimed that when he could not satisfy her sexually, he had to send her packing so that she can marry another man of her choice.

He also alleged that his wife made his children hawk sachet water and sweets for her on busy roads.
Responding to the allegations levelled against her by her husband as regards her outrageous demand for sex,

Zainab said: “Afterall, he could not accuse me of infidelity. I am not a flirt. If he accused me of being a nymphomaniac, it is his headache.

“Sex in marriage is my conjugal right which I think every responsible man must preserve and protect and if I demanded for as much as I want, I have not done anything wrong.”

The petty trader said that she did not know what came over her husband, when he suddenly asked her to pack out of their matrimonial home after the naming ceremony of their last child.

According to her, “Olufumilayo ordered me to vacate our matrimonial home after I gave birth to our last child even though I did not offend him in any way.”

Zainab told the court further that she had to re-marry when, after waiting for two years, hoping that her husband would have a change of mind following efforts by her parents to resolve the matter amicably and reconcile them, failed.

The court, after listening to both parties, dissolved the union, adding that the marital relationship between the estranged couple had broken down completely.

Police humiliates Sunny Neji, undresses him in public @ gunpoint’

Popular pop highlife star and Oruka crooner Sunny Neji, is a man in pain. He is so angry at the humiliation meted out to him by men of the Nigerian Police Force that he decided to twit and share his experience on Facebook.

Following his post published herein,Vanguard reporter MUKOSOLU NZOM had a brief chat with the Ogoja, Cross River State born star.

I saw what you up loaded just now, what happened?

Some policemen in uniform stopped me and started searching me as if I was a criminal.

And where did this happen?

It happened around the toll gate axis on Lagos Ibadan express way by 7-UP area, between 10 and 11 of that faithful morning. The officer in-charge of the team was one Inspector Katsina…and they were driving a convoy Hilux truck

How did it happen?

I was asked to stop and I did. And they started treating me as if I was already guilty of something. The inspector kept ranting about how they’ll deal with me if they found anything incriminating in my car. They searched the whole car and made me remove my shoes and my jacket. I wondered at their effrontery and what they were looking for.

They even went as far as asking for my Special Marshal I.D card. They just kept talking as if they were sure there was something in my car.

They turned my car inside out….I did not mind the searching but all the threats they were making as if they were so sure I was guilty even before finding any evidence made me uncomfortable

I think the Police can do better than what they did to me.

Don’t you think they did that because they wanted you to part with some money?

They intentionally did what they did because they wanted to embarrass me. I’m sure my name is not very strange to them.

And after the search, were you allowed to go?

They had to leave me now abi …….since they did not find anything. I’m not a criminal, it was pure police harassment

Worried that the same situation may arise next time, Nneji told Sunday Entertainment, that he decided to visit the station (Area H in Ogudu.)where the team works and this is what he said transpired.

”I decided to visit the area command where those officers came from to report the incident…”

“My peeps!!!!! No be small tin o….na so I go station this morning go sit down face to face wit the officers wey harass me the other day. They come dey beg dey apologize. The transformation was incredible. The 2IC ask me Wetin I want make dem do to dem….I look dem finish and I come begin sorry for dem. I say make dem just caution dem…. E go better!!!”.

Egbesu Fraternity Claim Responsibility for Sapele Bombing

Egbesu Mightier Fraternity, a Niger Delta militant group, yesterday, claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Muslim Children Teaching School in Sapele, Delta state and several other explosions that erupted in the region.
The group, in a statement jointly signed by its Revolutionary Council, threatened more attacks until there is a respite from the attacks orchestrated by the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic sect in the North.

The Ijaw militant group stated: “Boko Haram killings will no longer be accepted and we are equally ready to kill any Muslim we see in southern Nigeria.

“We gave this warning since October this year that if Boko Haram will not stop killing southerners, we will also kill until they (Boko Haram) feel uncomfortable before we will stop killing; because no part of this country is constitutionally empowered to kill any Nigerian.

Is this what Nigeria has degenerated to?

34 year old Man butchers Mother like Goat, dumps dismembered body in a well

Both luck and the popular Yoruba saying that, 'train your child to give you rest of mind' worked against Mrs. Martina Usha, a 57-year- old resident of Maraban Rido, a suburb of Kaduna, as her son she laboured so hard to give the best of education butchered her like a cow and dumped her dismembered body in a well.
Although the incident occurred mid last month, but skeletal details were at the disposal of Crimewatch until recently, when our reporter succeeded in speaking with the 34 years old suspect, Emmanuel Usha, at the Kaduna Police Command Headquarters.

Crimewatch gathered that Martina was the first wife of Engineer Godwin Usha and a mother of three children. Her first child, a girl, was said to have died at the age of 15, leaving the woman with two boys, Emmanuel and his younger brother.

A source close to the Usha family disclosed how the suspect had been passionate about blood or had been using blood for something which is not yet known to people. According to him, Emmanuel had always loved draining blood from animals, right from his Secondary School days."Emmanuel had at one time, killed a dog in their compound, drained its blood and kept it in his room for use which is best known to only him. He did the same thing to a cat which was even very friendly with both the young and old in the compound," he recalled.

Though, the suspect had allegedly had series of quarrels with his late mother and even hit her with shovel, no one, including his parents suspected he could butcher his biological mother in such a dastardly manner. The recent problems which resulted in the death of Mrs. Martina, was said to have begun, after she relocated from Ungwan Television, where she lived with her husband, to her apartment in Sabo Tasha. Crimewatch gathered that it was at Sabon Tasha that Emmanuel made the first attempt to murder her. That was the time he allegedly used shovel to hit her on the hand.

He was later handed over to the police, after parts of his late Martina's body were recovered from the well by some experts.

Though, Engineer Usha did not want to speak to the press, he, however, confided in a journalist who is very close to the family that his son, "had given very conflicting statements at the police station, which pointed to the fact that he killed his mother.”

He said further: “At the moment, the dismembered parts of my wife have been stitched together at Barao Dikko Specialist Hospital and we will be taking the corpse to rest in the village."
Meanwhile, after several fruitless moves by the reporter, to have access to the suspect who has since the incident, been in the police net, he was eventually paraded before newsmen last Friday.
Below is the excerpt of the reporter’s interaction with the alleged mum killer:

Why are you here?
I was framed up, I went home and discovered my mother in the well and I couldn’t escape.

Who framed you up?

People who didn’t want me to believe I was a graduate from the military school. I graduated from Arizona Academy Air Force in 2010. I am presently teaching in my mother’s school.

There is an allegation that you killed your mother, what can you say about that?

I didn’t kill my mother, those who didn’t want me to believe I graduated from the military school killed her. Some of them are our neighbours, some of them even stole my uniform and the rifle I got from the academy in the country. They didn’t want me to achieve anything in this country. I know some of these people but not all of them.

What time of the day was your mother killed?
It was sometimes in the evening. I was at home earlier, before I went out to smoke. When I came back, the deed had already been done.

When you came back from where you went to, what did you see in the house?

There was nothing unusual in the house; there was also nothing to show that somebody attacked her. After my mum disappeared from the house, I went to my father’s house that night. When I was coming back, there were people around the house, waiting for me to come and open the gate, they started searching and discovered the body in the well.

You were alleged to be mopping the floor of your room the same day, what were you trying to cover up?

I was mopping oil stain. My shoes stepped on engine oil, when I was entering the house to take key to fill the generator with fuel.

What was the relationship between you and your mother like, before her death. We learnt you usually fought with her?

My mother was the one who brought me to Maraban Rido after I could not discover my house. I forgot and these people were taking my things away so, I couldn’t remember that I was having a house like that. She was the one, who brought me into the house and organized my school for me. She was the one, who was paying my school fees. I was staying with my father in Ugwan Television before, but I wasn’t doing anything because the school I finished in Nigeria, I didn’t make it, I finished Mossi Gabriel, I finished New Breed, Labayi, I even took some exams but all, I didn’t make any of the papers. I also schooled abroad at Arizona Academy, Air Force and that was the one my mother was carrying forth for me but she wasn’t telling me anything.

We learnt that you were always quarreling with your mother, how true is this allegation?

I don’t fight her always but on one occasion, I used shovel to injure her and it was because I was instructed to go to the house to collect my phone from her and she didn’t want to give it to me. And she was not paying attention to my transportation money to go back home, so I had to trek home that night, so I was annoyed and I attacked her that night. That time, I was not living with her, I was living with my father in Television, while she was living in Sabo at that time.

Who are you suspecting to have killed your mother?

I suspect our neighbour, where she used to keep the things she took away from me before I woke up.

What are those things?

My uniform, my rifle, I have a rifle that I was given in the country when I finished. My identity card was an international number, I was supposed to separate it into two, I gave the national ID card. Whenever they give it to me, I’m supposed to wake up the following day, after the injection my head swagger.

So, what were you doing with gun?
Yes, I have a gun, it was given to me in the country, because I attended an Air Force Academy. When you are a scholar with them, they give you a rifle for protection. They signed it for me and I was supposed to finish with my commission.

What about your mother’s handset which you were alleged to have taken?

She travelled and came back that morning, we didn’t have time to talk, so, I came back in the evening from school. She asked me about the handset I sold, I denied taking the handset. Later, she discovered that the second handset was missing. She was very annoyed that she didn’t realize that she was not having the communication system in the house. So, while she was barking at me, I went to the room and she went out. That was the last time I saw my mother alive.

The police recovered a very sharp knife from your room, what were you doing with it and the shovel found under your mattress?

It is the knife I used in peeling oranges when my mother buys for me. The shovel is my rifle I was using in Arizona Academy, it was a gun but they changed it to shovel for safety.

Do you smoke and what do you smoke?

Yes, I smoke cannabis and cigarette.

Have you ever been taken for any rehabilitation in the past?

Several times, my mother took me for rehabilitation. I don’t drink, when I drink, I vomit and I fall very sick so my mother was concerned. She told my father about it and they went to complain to NDLEA about it. They took me there for rehabilitation, since then, I don’t drink alcohol again. I only smoke.

What led you into drugs?

In the school, it was a project that I should continue smoking, because it is something I used when I am on patrol, so that I will not be bored. We were trained that way in school to smoke. When my mother gave me my ID card, I realized that it was true, I was an army, the clothes given were that of army but my eyes could not see the colour actually. I don’t see green because they didn’t give me my glass to see.

How do you feel about your mother’s death?

I feel very bad because people believe that I killed my mother. I am actually the one in need of my mother, because she promised to give me all the things she seized from me before going to stay with my brother in Sabo.

Whao...This is yet another sad news. The Yoruba sector of movie industry has lost another actress to the cold hands of death. The actress in question is popularly known as Funmi Liverpool, who belonged to the Legacy caucus during her lifetime.

Commenting on the tragedy of losing a promising actress, top actress Opeyemi Olusanya a member of the same caucus noted that one thing that really hurt her about the actress death was the string of calamity that trailed her shortly before her death.

She added that not too long before her death, the actress had lost one of her children.

“ We just lost another young up and coming actress in the movie industry(Funmi Liverpool of Legacy caucus). She was sick for a while but was snatched away from us by death after taking one of her kids away not too long ago.”

This is so pathetic, may the Almighty give the family the strenght to bear the painful!!!

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the president,Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, yesterday told Christian faithful across the country to protect themselves, their property and churches in any way they could, against any attack, even as he asked Muslim leaders to call their people to order.

Oritsejafor stated this when he paid a visit to St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, the scene of the Christmas bomb blast at Madalla, Niger State.

Oritsejafor, while sympathising with members of the parish, said the visit was to let them know that they were not alone.

“Even though Jesus Christ is with you, we have come to show solidarity,” he said.

Oritsejafor, who described the Madalla bomb blast as “madness that should not be talked about among human beings,” said Christian faithful should expect the unexpected “when you are in the world but our belief in God must be stronger now.”

He said although the Muslim community had taken a good step by visiting and sympathising with Christians and victims of the bomb blast, it was not enough.

He said they should take a step further and help reach Boko Haram members, noting that the perpetrators were not spirits.

His words: “We see this as pure madness, normal people don’t behave like this, even animals have value for each other not to talk of human beings.”

Boko Haram: Nigerians are too timid – OPC

The Founder of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Dr Frederick Fasehun, on Wednesday described Nigerians as timid people who could not come together to fight a common enemy.

He said; “Nigerians are too timid. We watch thieves operate and simply run away. We see things we could report or come together to fight but look the other way.’’

He lamented the lack of zeal by Nigerians to help tackle the insecurity across the nation.

The OPC leader however, urged the Federal Government to chose a team to dialogue with members of the Boko Haram sect.

Fasehun told journalists in Lagos that mediation must come soonest, to avoid more casualties.

“There must be people that the Boko Haram will listen to. These people are Nigerians and they can be reached– but it must be by people they can listen to,’’ he said.

According to him, Nigeria is not short of personalities that the sect can trust enough to tell their grievances.

He said bombing of churches cast doubt on the known grouse of the sect.“If the Boko Haram is against Western Education, how come they do not go bombing schools?’’ he asked.

Fasehun stressed the need for security operatives to open up and let Nigerians know and understand the grouse of the sect.

He said that the situation might seem hard to tackle but difficult situations sometimes were resolved by simple solutions.

NAN reports that the sect, which claimed responsibility for the Christmas Day bombings, has also threatened further attacks on New Year eve.

REVEALED!!!.....Governor Aliyu knows the sponsors of Boko Haram

The Governor of Niger State, while commiserating with victims of the St Theresa Church bombing two days ago said…

We know highly placed people up there as sponsors of the sect and it is time for Mr. President, security agents and all of us to go after the sponsors of the Boko Haram now. This is a pure act of terrorism and not religious.”
They know the sponsors of Boko Haram and nobody is being arrested? If this president doesn’t act fast, this country will be in serious crisis soon.

Retaliation???......Islamic school bombed in Niger Delta

Another bomb explosion hit an Islamic school in Sapele, Delta State, on Tuesday. It was the second of such attack in three weeks.

It was learnt that the bomb blast was a retaliatory attack by a group of Muslims in the town against the faction that detonated an explosive at the main mosque, Sapele, last month.

Man Hangs Self on Christmas Day

A yet-to-be identified man on Sunday hanged himself on a tree close to the lagoon on Marinas opposite the Power Holding Company of Nigeria office on the Lagos Island.

Although the incident was believed to have taken place on Christmas Day, when the scene was visited  on Monday around 10am, the man’s body was dangling from the tree, while a crowd stood around watching.

A pair of red slippers, complete yellow lace traditional attire and a sack was found at the foot of the tree suggesting that the deceased who should be in his late 50s, might have changed into the green ankara wax attire so that he could not be easily noticed on the tree top.

It was also suspected that the deceased might have brought the clothes to the scene in the sack.

A passerby said  that an unidentified couple first spotted the deceased on the tree and raised the alarm, which attracted residents of the area and passersby.

he says, “I was at the Leventis BRT Bus Stop on Sunday around 3:30pm when I saw the couple who sat down under the tree relaxing, run towards me and shouting at the same time.

“When I inquired from them what went wrong, they told me that they saw a liquid substance dropping off from the tree and suspected it was urine. They said when they looked up, to see where it was coming from, they saw the deceased dangling from the tree.

“I came to the scene myself and I saw him and since then this place has been jam-packed with crowd. The deceased might have committed suicide in the early hours of Sunday.”

When inquired from people gathered at the scene, nobody could volunteer any information about the man suggesting that he might not be residing in the area.

When his corpse was finally brought down by volunteers led by a 22-year-old butcher, Olore Nurudeen, insects had already taken over his body. A putrid smell also oozed from his remains.

An ambulance from the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit picked up the corpse at about 11am to the General Hospital, Isolo.

When contacted on the telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, said no foul play was suspected and added that the corpse had been deposited at the General Hospital’s mortuary, Isolo.

“Our men were at the scene of the incident at about 9am. Nothing was found on the deceased and his identity is unknown. For now we are not suspecting any foul play but investigation is ongoing,” Jinadu said.

There is no conflict between Muslims and Christians – Sultan

Nigeria’s top Muslim spiritual leader sought to calm tensions Tuesday after meeting the country’s president over deadly Christmas attacks claimed by Islamists that risk inflaming sectarian divisions.

“I want to assure all Nigerians that there is no conflict between Muslims and Christians, between Islam and Christianity,” Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar told journalists after the meeting that lasted some 90 minutes.

“It’s a conflict between evil people and good people. The good people are more than the evil ones, so the good people must come together to defeat the evil ones, and that is the message.”

What`s your take on this...???

Jonathan Meets Sultan Over Christmas Day Bombings

Do you think this is a commendable move..???..According to Vanguard,Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan met the country’s main Muslim spiritual leader Tuesday after Christmas Day attacks blamed on Islamists that killed 40, including worshippers as they left church.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, made no comment as he entered Jonathan’s official residence on Tuesday afternoon.

Muslim leaders have come under pressure to take a more active role in seeking to stop attacks by Islamist group Boko Haram, which claimed responsibility for the Christmas violence.

The sultan’s Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs issued a statement condemning the attacks.

“Security agencies must fish out the perpetrators of these dastardly acts and make them face the wrath of the law, regardless of their status, so as to serve as deterrent to others,” the statement said.

The council added that authorities “also must take proactive measures to nip in the bud the re-occurrence of such dastardly acts before they happen in order to create a sense of security and safety in the citizenry.”

Nigeria has seen scores of attacks claimed by Boko Haram, but some analysts said the Christmas bombings marked a dangerous escalation in a country divided between a mainly Muslim north and predominantly Christian south.

The deadliest of the Christmas violence was a bomb attack at a Roman Catholic church outside the capital Abuja as worshippers were leaving a mass, with at least 35 killed there.

Jonathan, a Christian from the south, has faced major opposition in the north of Africa’s most populous nation.

"We will make Nigeria great"– Jonathan

According to Vanguard, the Federal Government has pledged to make this country great by improving all sectors of the nation’s economy that have direct bearing on the lives of Nigerians.

President Goodluck Jonathan made the pledge while receiving Federal Capital Territory, FC,T residents led by the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, who paid him Christmas visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Sunday.

The President said Nigerians would, in no distant future, appreciate efforts of the Federal Government because of the positive impact the ongoing transformation agenda would have on them.

He appreciated the honour done to him and his family for the Christmas homage, especially for the wonderful presentation by the FCT Administration.

Those who joined Jonathan to receive the FCT Minister and his team were the First Lady, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan; Vice President Namadi Sambo and his wife; some members of the Federal Executive Council; former Ministers; Acting FCT Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed; the FCDA Executive Secretary, Engr. Adamu Ismaila; Senator representing FCT, Senator Philip Aduda; two members of the House of Representatives representing FCT as well as the Chairman of Kuje Area Council.

In his response, the FCT Minister, Senator Bala thanked God for the quality leadership he has been providing to the country.

He called on Nigerians to continue to support Presidential Jonathan’s transformational leadership.

Also speaking, FCT Minister of State, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, recalled that the message of Jesus Christ to the universe was supreme and admonished Nigerians to live in peace, harmony and show love to one another.

"Boko Haram Attacks is Inhuman and Wicked.” -Islamic scholars

Islamic scholars in Kano have condemned the bomb attacks in churches around the country on Christmas Day.

The scholars described the attacks as “inhuman and wicked.”

Sheik Muhammad Isa described the attack as “unfortunate and heartless,” adding that that no worshiper should be attacked at a place of worship, especially on holy days.

He said the attackers were not adherents of any faith as no true believer could cause such harm to innocent people.

Sheikh Usman Saif, another cleric, said God would not spare the bombers “for using a religious period to shed blood and upset people.

“How can a person or a group of people, who believe in God hurt people at such a period when people were praying to their God?”

He urged the government to step up security measures.

'I'm Available for Nigerian Men' -Yvonne Nelson

Any day, anytime Yvonne Nelson is one actress to behold with a superb body and sexy long legs. A popular face in Ghollywood, Yvonne has endeared herself to a large crowd of fans in the Nigeria movie industry - Nollywood.

Showtime Celebrity cornered her at a movie location in Festac Town, Lagos, recently, where she speaks on her alleged ban by the movie producers in Ghana, her relationships with Jim Iyke, her love life and many more. Enjoy the interesting chat.....

You were a model before going into acting. How has the journey been so far?

I wasn’t modeling. It just happened by chance. I actually took part in Miss Ghana beauty pageant in 2005. It has been fun and I love what I’m doing. I have a degree in Human Resources Management but I choose to concentrate on my acting career.

It’s something I love and people are appreciating what I’m doing presently. I’m making all my fans all over the world proud. I’m making my nation proud. I’m a very patriotic person and it is all about putting my country and Africa at large on top of the chart.
Did you set out in life to become an actress or did you enter the profession by accident?

When I was growing up, I was rather interested in music. I remember when I was in secondary school, I used to perform on stage. I was always into entertainment. I wouldn’t say acting was just by the way. It was meant to be and it happened. One thing is that they are all about entertainment.

You walk into the roles or they come your way?

I never attended any audition. One Ghanaian producer , Abdusalam Umuni, owner of Versus Films brought me into the industry. He saw me and developed interest in giving me a role in his new movie then. Even when I told him I was not an actress and I wouldn’t want to be one, he convinced me to pick up the role. That was how it all started. I never attended any audition, the roles came my way. It was meant to be.
Did you win the Miss Ghana beauty pageant?

I didn’t win the contest. But I won two other awards out of five awards I entered for. I was among the last five contestants during the contest. I’m sure if I had won the beauty contest, I wouldn’t have become an actress. So, it’s good that I didn’t win Miss Ghana Beauty pageant, and it’s because I didn’t win that I’m into acting today. Everything happens in life for a reason .

Recently, Ghanaian movie producers said they lifted the six -month ban slammed on you.

I was not aware of any ban. If something is made official or if somebody is officially banned, there should be a letter notifying that person of such ban. But nobody gave me any letter. I think this whole thing started as a rumour and later, it became bigger by the day.

While the alleged ban lasted, were you still working in Ghana?

I branched out into business during that period. I opened my shop and I also started my hair line. I was travelling all over the world. My name was everywhere and people were calling me on phone from every part of the world concerning the ban. I didn’t even feel anything. I was very busy during that period. In fact , that was the busiest moment of my life.

They said you were rude to one of the producers that employed you?

Rude! I shot two movies for the producer in question, “Back to Back”. If I was rude to him , I wouldn’t have been on his set. Yes, a misunderstanding is bound to happen while on set. When a producer wants to take advantage of someone and people are not privileged to listen to my own side of the story, they will begin to draw conclusions that one is rude or arrogant. It’s sad.

I’m only ensuring that nobody takes advantage of me while on set. Ghanian artistes hardly voice out their feelings. Sometimes, they find it difficult to complain because they are afraid that the producers might get annoyed and decide not to give them roles again.

For me, if you do something that is wrong, I will not hesitate to tell you so. While on set, artistes usually complain just as producers also complain. I know that as the faces in front of the camera, the producers are duty-bound to care for us and respect our rights. We should be their number one priority.
So, all is well with you at the moment?

Nothing has been wrong with me. It’s unfortunate that people tend to believe everything they read in the dailies. Sometimes, they think that without acting, I cannot exist. No! Absolutely, no. I am about to do my Masters Degree now and I have set up businesses that can sustain me throughout the rest of my life.

If I don’t act for six months, it does not mean it is the end of my life. I am busy doing other things. And I’m very happy with my life. It’s very sad when people sympathise with me without actually knowing half of the story. I am a very strong woman and I don’t allow all these distractions to affect me in any way. In life, things happen and later, one moves on.

So you are being misrepresented in the media?

I will tell you something about the press in Ghana. I will say it here because I’m a very outspoken person. I’m sure it is also obtainable in Nigeria. What the press guys haven’t seen or heard , they will sit back and fabricate stories because they want to sell their papers.

For instance, the latest story in town is that ‘’Yvonne Nelson is pregnant for Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor, a Togolese footballer who plays for Manchester City as a striker. Where are they getting these stories from? I met Adebayor only but once. Why would anybody come up with this kind of story?

That’s why you never hear that Yvonne Nelson is granting interviews to the press. Whether I grant them interviews or not, they would still go ahead and write things I never said. Back in Ghana, I grant interviews to only two journalists.

All I know is that in the movie I shot recently, I played a role of a pregnant woman. Later, I twitted the photography on Twitter, saying 'I’m playing the role of a pregnant woman in my new movie…that was all'. Sometimes, you sit back and you are quiet. At other times, you read these stories and you would want to laugh. In fact, some of the stories are shocking and damaging. But no matter what anybody would say, at the end of the day, this is a job that puts food on my table. They will continue to talk about me.

Your parents’ reaction!

My family is supportive. My mum knows the kind of a daughter she has. I live with my parents under the same roof. And most times, when they read these stories, they cannot help but laugh.
And that you were dating Jim Iyke?

Jim Iyke and I shot a movie in Ghana titled “Back to Back.” A Nigerian artiste came to Ghana to work. I can’t watch him struggle to go to the car park to board a taxi, or ride in a producer’s car. What we do as artistes is that we try to help ourselves.

I’m here in Nigeria and I’m sitting in Bobby’s car, the same way I tried to be of assistance to Jim Iyke. He was constantly sitting in my car, as I was picking him up as well as taking him back to his hotel after the day’s production. And before I knew what was happening, rumours started flying that Jim Iyke and I were dating. I guess all these things are happening to me because I’m the only single lady among my colleagues. Jackie Appiah is married just as Majid is married. There is no other single lady to attack apart from myself.

You are always keeping to yourself.

I never had a party in my life. I don’t smoke and I don’t drink either. If I’m not shooting, I’m always at home. I live a very simple life.
Do your actions on screen betray your true nature?

Well, I know how to play my roles very well. That’s what I can say.
People believe an artiste lives at least 25 percent of his or her real character in a role he or she plays in a movie?

I don’t agree with you. Does it mean that if one plays the role of a mad woman, there is the tendency that the person possesses some traits of madness in him or her. I know a couple of actors who play the role of pastors and yet they smoke and drink a lot. People should learn how to differentiate what we do on set and our real lives.

Your role in “Heart of Men”, a Ghanaian soft-porn movie discouraged some of your fans who wondered how much you were paid to expose some vital parts of your body in that movie?

Really! They were not happy with me? But that was one of my best films so far. I never exposed any part of my body. Why do you get it twisted? It was Jackie Appiah and Majid who exposed themselves. I only kissed. Jackie exposed her áss’ and nobody said anything as well as Majid did.

I remember kissing with Majid and John Dumelo. The only thing I did which I know people would raise eyebrow was the poster where I exposed part of my body, not in the movie. My pose in the poster was new to the Ghanaian and Nigerian markets.

Do you feel bad each time you kiss on set?

Why will I feel bad? If I feel bad, it means I’m not real on screen. It is not like deep kissing, as lovers do, because people are around us there.

Are you comfortable with the way the soft-porn movies are thriving in Ghana today?

I’m not in a position to defend what the producers are doing presently because most of them I guess want to sell their movies.
About three months ago, you played the role of Chief Bridesmaid to actress Mercy Johnson. Your fans are wondering when the wedding bell will ring for you?

Very soon. Just keep your fingers crossed, you will be informed.

Were you surprised when Mercy asked you to be her Chief Bridesmaid?

Yes, I was surprised but I was not surprised. At first, I thought she was playing a prank on me. It was when she insisted that I realised she meant it. I was very excited and happy for her. I came to support a friend.
Most times, you are in Nigeria. Are scripts not coming your way again in Ghana?

I shot about four movies in Ghana before embarking on this trip to Nigeria. Those who think I’m always in Nigeria don’t know anything about my movement. I’m hardly in Nigeria. And each time, I’m here, I’m always in a hurry to return to Ghana.

The way you talked about your Nigerian fans leaves room for suspicion. If given an opportunity, would you marry a Nigerian?

Yes, I love Nigerian men. Nigerian men are nice people. There are no two ways about it. I appreciate them and they are like brothers to us. When Nigerian men like you, they will walk up to you to tell you so. Sometimes, when I’m in Nigeria, I hardly remember that I’m not in Ghana except when there is power failure. That’s when it dawns me that I’m in Nigeria. The country is like home to me. The men appreciate what I’m doing presently on screen.

Is that an open invitation to the Nigerian men?

Yes, I love them and they love me too.

How would you describe the kind of relationship that exists between you, Jackie Appiah and Nadia Buari?

God created three of us differently. What Jackie has, Nadia doesn’t possess, and what Nadia possesses, Yvonne Nelson has not, and what I’m endowed with, they lack. I’m not competing with anybody in the industry.

If a producer has a role he wants Yvonne Nelson to play in his production, he cannot give that role out to another actress, except Yvonne Nelson. Just as a producer in Nigeria has Genevieve in mind when he is casting a role, nobody can take it away from her. I don’t know why there are lots of fighting, back-biting, hatred and beefing in the industry. They are my friends any way.
Did you experience a rosy childhood?

I grew up like every other average Ghanaian girl. I attended one of the best secondary schools in Ghana. I read Human Resource Management at the Central University College in Ghana. I grew up in a family of three children, I happen to be the last child.

What is it that your fans don’t know about you?

I’m a very funny and down-to-earth person. But at the same time, I’m a shy person too. People judge me from a distance because of the job I do. They should get close to understand who I am.
How often have you acted nude on set?

I wish I could do it, but I can’t. I have had a lot of offers to act nude but I rejected them. I love what I’m doing. I can’t see myself doing that for any price.
Do you have a love life?

I hardly talk about that part of my life. But I’m okay and happy with whoever, and whatever I’m doing presently with my life.

I mean, do you find time to love at all?

Of course, I fall in love because I’m human. I believe that no matter how hard or soft one tries to be, there is always a time, when he or she falls in love. People always fall in love and I’m no exception.

But I’m sure you have never suffered any heart break.
When I started dating, I experienced a heart break. That was the first real relationship I ever had in my life.
…And you were hurt terribly!

Not really. It was a learning process for me.
You gave back to society last year when you set up a Foundation back in your country. Why the focus on school children?

I set up a Foundation called Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation, which was launched October 2010. Glaucoma has to do with the eyes and it’s a silent killer disease. My grandmother died of the disease. I decided to set up the Foundation to help create awareness about the deadly disease. I’m working with a team of experts in Ghana. That’s the only way I can give back to the society.

Another bomb scare in Jos!

According to Vanguard, there was another bomb scare in the Plateau State Capital, Monday, following the arrest of a man around the overhead bridge in Gada Biyu area for allegedly trying to blow up the bridge.

The haggard looking man who was later declared insane by the police had been sighted under the overhead bridge with a nylon bag and was said to have been unable to provide coherent explanations when questioned on his mission.

Many residents who were still smarting from Sunday’s blast at Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church promptly gathered as rumour spread that he must have been trying to plant an explosive under the bridge.

The man was almost lynched but for the timely intervention of security men who took the man in for questioning. He was later said to be a lunatic.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Emmanuel Ayeni confirmed the incident saying “they just arrested a mad man.”

Apart from the initial scare, all was calm in the city, Monday, following the Christmas Day explosion as people went about their businesses even though many streets were deserted.

It was learnt that security men were still interrogating the four suspects arrested in connection with Sunday’s incident which left a policeman dead. The policeman was gunned down by the attackers as they stormed the church to throw in the improvised explosive device which landed outside the fence.

Security men were still guarding the church as at press time.

Sultan decries lack of unity among Muslims

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar III, on Sunday at Imolisa village, Ogun, expressed concern over what he described as the lack of unity among Muslims in the country.

Abubakar made the observation while declaring open the 92nd Islamic Vocation Course (IVC) organised by the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Zone B.

He said although Muslims were in the majority in Nigeria they could not speak with one voice because they were not united.

Abubakar, however, said that there was hope as Muslim leaders had identified the problems and were finding solutions to them.

“It is important for the Muslims to gather and talk about issues affecting Islam where leaders will interact with the youth,’’ Abubakar told the youth, who were drawn from the Southern part of the country.

He said that it was through interaction at such meetings that problems facing Islam could be discussed and resolved.

Speaking on extremism and violence in the country, he said Islam was never in support of those who use violence to achieve their aims.

He said the media were not helping matters as they were always quick to label any act of violence as handiwork of Muslims “without waiting for investigations to be concluded’’.

“When did Boko Haram become an octopus with so many tentacles?

“When people commit crimes these days they hide under the name of Boko Haram’’ the Sultan lamented.

Angry Nigerian Children Write Jonathan Over Blasts

1-year old baby killed at the St Theresa church bombing yesterday in Madalla
Written by Association of Conscious Nigerian Children (ACNC)

Dear Mr. President: We should say Merry Christmas but we are not your government, we are not in the business of deception. After almost ten hours of gathering your thoughts to speak on the bomb blasts that rocked the nation yesterday, you still fell short of your own very low standards.
What did you intend to say when you said Bomb Blasts are a burden we must live with? Why do you bother to budget over a trillion for security if we must live with the burden of insecurity? How come you are still a president? We do not blame you, we blame our older ones who were stupid enough to think that where you come from and your religion was all you needed to be a competent president.

They are crying now. We all cried yesterday on the darkest Christmas day of our short lives.

While we cried and left Christmas postponed for another year, we watched as you danced your life away like there was no tomorrow. Is it true that all you care about is the fact that you are the president so whatever can happen should happen. Last night we prayed for you. We prayed that the white men should be able to make common sense so that we can budget for it and then you will have it in abundance. As it is, it is obvious sir that you are grossly lacking in common sense.
If you weren’t, you would never come out to tell a mourning nation that it should get ready to live with the burden of destruction and insecurity. That was utterly insensitive and even the dumbest of our mates, fellow Nigerian children would never descend that low to an unprecedented level of cluelessness.

We understand this is not a sane country, if this was a sane country, your ilk will not be in a job. Your security chiefs, yourself and your cabinet would have been throwing resignation letters left right and centre. But then, here is a place where people are satisfied with just being in positions, that they are clueless about what to do in such positions does not matter.

Mr. President, Boko Haram defeated you in 2011. What plans are you making for 2012? Do you realise they have since improved while your security tactics remain stop and search? Do you realise they are far more coordinated than ever before? Have you thought of engaging more intelligence in curbing this menace instead of just mere brute? Yes, you have issues with concentrating for long, why not budget for a concentrator? That way you are conditioned to at least focus on being the president of Nigeria instead of our national chief chef? You are wondering where that came from? It came from cassava bread sir. You chose the menu for 2012 but we hope you realise that Boko Haram certainly has a menu.

Please Mr. President, they will look to attack again in the New Year, do what you have never done before, get your security chiefs to prevent that by all means. Contrary to your assertion, we are not prepared to live with the burden of bomb blasts. Get yourself to work and stop excusing your inability to deal with Boko Haram on the premise that they are a necessity. What is that? If you cannot lead and be a president, help yourself and resign. Please take your vice-president along. You are a twin set of incompetence.

This letter has been written with kind words, not because we are in the mood to be nice to you but because we are children and respect is a value we want to live with but our lack of it sometimes is a burden you must live with as long as you force us to live with your Boko Haram burden.

We wrote you a letter on subsidy yesterday but we figured it would be better to send this before you get our other letter. As long as your cluelessness reigns supreme in this country, we will always remind you of our angst and stake in this nation. It is not by force to live in Aso Rock. So if you must, do the right things, say the right things and learn to get the basic things right.

The Bomb Blasts darkened our Christmas but your response dampened our mood even further. This is not the way to lead a people. If you need help, we will nominate one of us to offer you words of wisdom for free. As it is, you look overwhelmed by the mere job of providing security for Nigeria let alone the other duties you swore to carry out for Nigeria.

Action point: Sack yourself sir, and take Arc. Namadi Sambo along. It is a good place to start
